Opinions on Parting out
Ok. Just wondering. I am trying to figure out what I should do.
Car has a bad sub frame...well not bad yet, but its gonna be sooner or later, I just can't seem to justify repairing the fuel pump but then keeping a car with a bad subframe.
Help me out here...what should I do?
The car is currently worth $550 in fair condition, running, braking. Private party.
Current Problems:
Intermittent Fuel Pump Operation
Ruptured Rear brake lines
subframe mount rust
The GOOD:
new front bendix pads and rotors
newly replaced rotting fuel line, holds perfect fuel pressure
engine runs perfectly
excellent charging system, no problems
transmission has been well maintained, excellent operation
tails are near perfect cond
K&N air filter
interior in very good cond, one small hole in headliner, front seats are clean and rear seats are perfect. all accessories work except A/C and the locks just click for some reason, should be easy fix, just have not looked into it very far
ext side paint in very good condition, top side oxidized.
wheels are all in good condition
NO DENTS, front two quarter panels are in absolute perfect condition, not even SCRATCHED.
Here are some pics to judge.
1989 Bonneville LE - 1G2HX54C3KW256332 - 149,881 miles
Thank You.

Don't part out. Sell to me. What would you want for it? Original Trans in mint condition, or rebuilt sometime in past? What kind of condition is the power steering cooler in?

i voted for selling it as a whole but fixing the brakes. I say fix the brakes because you can sell the car for a little more incorporating some of the cost of the brakes being fix. Which I believe will probably cost $200-$400 dollars. It also makes the car easier to sell. The FP is something the next owner can fix, just make sure they know its condition. I would list it'* price it at $800 after brake lines are fixed. Just a thought.
But you can check into how much a JY or charity will give you too.

part it out then bone yard it. the car has alot of rot on it, not worth selling as a drivable car, and not worth the trouble selling for the 4-500 bucks that its worth

you are an idiot IMO if you part it out.. fix the fuel pump! i just did two fuel pumps this weekend!
that car is not as bad as you are making it to be... remember when you loved it so much you wanted to drop $20k of mods into it?

ok, well trans is original...everything on the car is original basically. Car was dealer serviced for the first 105k of its life, second owner drove it 1k a year, if that...I bought it with 117,500 miles and has been extremely well maintained since I've owned it. Oil every 3k, trans and filter changes every 15k...etc etc. Like i said, the only REAL problems are the rust, fp, brakes and oxidized paint.
Lets see where this goes, I'm still really confused at what I should do.
