VIN Decoder

I have a 96 Bonneville SSE but I need to find a VIN decoder to figure out which transmission it has. If you know how to access this information please help. Thanks

you cant see you tranny by the vin. its the factory RPO's that are on the spare tire cover. you have the 4t60e non-HD

supercharger was only an option on the 92/93 sses and the 95-9? SLEs.

if he has the i at the end yes he would have a different trans

thats not true everytime i ordered a new trans For a Gm car or truck they wanted the Vin to clarify which trans it has

duh they need the Vin to clarify which Gear Ratio you have

kwiseman81 04-03-2006 08:11 PM

Alright, I have a 96 bonneville SSE (NON SUPERCHARGED) with a shit tranny and i need a cheap one to put in it. I am trying to find out which gear ratio I have. The car performed great when I bought it until that tranny shit out at 125,000 miles. I had a local shop put another one in and it acted like a granny car (slow & shitty) for almost 2 years. I dont know if they put the wrong ratio trans in it and im stuck with it or what, but then that tranny shit out on me. Now I have a car that i really liked turn into a money pit and im pissed off about it. Now you all know the whole story. The VIN is 1G2HZ52KXTH211267 I would hate to junk a car that is perfect except for the tranny. If you can help I would appreciate it. I am in Taylorville Illinois which is 25 miles south east of Springfield. I cannot look at the spare tire cover since I dont have it anymore. I was dumb enough to put a big stereo in and lost track of the cover.
************************************************** ************************************************** ******* I have just found out the whole vin can be decoded to find the tranny. I have a 3.06 ratio and if you know of a decent tranny or where to find one, give me a yell.... Thanx everyone!
