update... new catco dont fit.....
i am buying a new catco and i need to no the size of the pipe on my 95 se. its the stock pipe still... also what would be better to buy
magnaflow or catco or flowmaster ? |
Best way to know is go measure your exhaust piping.
|
I agree. There are odd combinations over the years. Measure before and after the cat. Nowhere else.
Measure twice. Don't ask us. |
thanks will for the advice.. ill measure both sides and see..
but with out taking off the catco first how would i measure the size of the pipes? |
You'll know. It'll be either very close to one or the other.
Let me give you an example: Both of my cars are Series 1 L67's with crossflow dual-outlet mufflers from the factory. One was 2.5" all the way to the muffler. The other is 2.5" into the resonator, then 2.25" from the resonator to the muffler. From the factory. |

It matters when you flow enough. Which is why I'm bypassing my 2.5" now into an exhaust cutout on that car. ;)

well i went to the shop to get the magnaflow catco welded on and they said it dont fit they cant weld it on.. they said first the new one is only 11'' long and the stock one is 21'' long and second the new one is 2.5'' on both sides and the downpipe is 2.75 or 3'' wide and is also curved and made into the catco so i need to buy a new one with a down pipe he says... is that true or did he not just want to do the work for the price he told me. ($50) at my local midas... what do i do now..? i really need to replace this catco fast as my car really stinks and im getting a lil under (((((200miles per tank )))) on a full 18 gallon tank
and about 265 miles per tank'' on the highway.. and at $2.89.9 for a gallon it aint cheap for me to get around.. |
Your man is a lazy moron.
He has to cut off the old cat, and add in your new cat and a piece of pipe to make up the length difference. You can reuse your downpipe. It's not rocket science. I'd tell him exactly what needs to be done, "See, you cut the old one out, and weld the new one in. Yeah, right there." If he balks at it, call him a lazy moron, and find a new shop. I sure wish I got 265 mpg... |
