Still prepin! w/ pic Flushed Rad today as well...
Decided i would change the tranny fluid/ filter, it was flushed in January Or 11,000 kms ago, anyways, i was quite pleased that the bottom of the tranny pan wasnt coated as thick as my old Bonneville'* was. After I changed the fluid, i got it up to full, took it for a drive, the first couple of dead stop to 40 mph moderate accelerations had loose shifts, but that went away fast, and it actually went back to firm like it always is
PS I also find, the car not only shifts better in Perform Shift mode, it also gets far better mileage, i don't know why.
anyways, heres what a I found...no solid particles just a bit of clutch material.
I cleaned it up so good you could probally of eaten off of it, used some foamy engine cleaner and wiped it CLEAN

I had my trans fluid changed right after I first got my car a few months back. I noticed that it shifted alot better. But most of where I noticed the change was just shifting out of Park. Before the change the whole car would almost shake but now you almost can't tell when you shift out of park.

This may be a dumb question but how else am I going to learn? How often do you guys change your tranny fluid? I heard several years ago that if you do it once you have to do it quite a bit and it wasn't recommended. So I am a bit confused. I appreciate the input.

Before I added my tranny cooler I was changing my fluid before the summer and then again after the summer was over( about fall )... It just stays too hot here in Florida... The fluid would get hot enough to overheat the fluid....
At 140,000 on the 95 and 121,000 on the 91, I believe the fluid changes are what have kept me from the tranny shop... I need to do both cars... I should do a writeup with pics too...LOL
I hear some say that coolers aren't needed, nor are frequent tranny fluid changes.... I don't care if the cars have the newer 4T65-E that aren't supposed to overheat, If I had one I would still have a cooler on it and change the fluid...lol
If I had a drain plug on the trans, I'd at least change the tranny fluid when I change the oil just for * & G'*.... Just because I'm like that

Did you by chance reuse the original pan gasket? Its the best one made and it can be reused over and over....

How many miles does your tranny have on it? Usually, if a trans hasn't been serviced enough, or never been serviced, as a rule of thumb, you should leave it. Some times its the cruddy fluid that is practically holding the transmission together, and by flushing it, your actually killing it off. If the mileage isn't to high, its worth having it flushed and having the filter changed. Its all good maintence
JR, ofcourse i re used that nifty seal, they are 70 bucks new!

yeah i would leave the tranny fluid alone then at that mileage, if you have no problems now, it will be fine.
