There have been several topics on the comparison of 2000+ SSEis vs. GXPs. Have you tried searching? It may help you out.

And are you looking for the Series 2 L67 (supercharged) or just the NA L36?

If you're looking for power, speed, and aftermarket parts, the SSEi would probably suit you better.

If you're looking for power, a gorgeous V8 sound, and a more subtle presence on the road, the GXP may be the right choice.

Test drives are a good thing.

Oddly enough..being newer..the GXP'* seem to have even more common issues. Electrical harnesses etc.

As mentioned, there are many posts about teh comparisons, etc.
I have never driven either, but from what I have read I think I would go with an SSEi myself. Nothing against the GXP, I just kiind of prefer teh more in your face styling of teh Ei compared to the more classy look of the GXP.
Of course, as mentioned, the test drive is going to proabbly be your biggest deciding factor.
Either way, I don't think you can go wrong.

Either a GXP

or

ANything blown

00-03 SSEi
00-05 GTP
04-05 Impala SS

While the engine mods are the same the GP and Impala have more for appearance mods
