turn off airbag warning light after front seat swap?
I swapped my 2001 bonneville seats (with side airbags) for some 2004 bonneville seats (with no airbags). Now I have an airbag warning light on. Can I just short the connectors under the seat to turn the warning light off or do I have to take it to the dealer and have them reprogram something?
I made the change to the 2004 seats because I think they have better back support and my wife hated the headrests on the 2001 seats. Thanks. |
Thats strange that they had no air bags, I got a set of GXP seats for mine and they had air bags in them

I would imagine that you could just short them.

I don't think that will work and I actually wouldn't reccomend doing that. Each air bag has a module in it, it's not just wires that complete a circuit. Shorting out one might cause others to be set off and that would be a very costly mistake

That is what I am trying to avoid. The last thing I want to do is set off all my other airbags. I'm not sure which model the seats came out of but I would think by 2004 it would have been standard equipment to have the side airbags. [
