Transmission question

I got a question maybe someone on this forum can answer for me. I have a 1998 Bonneville SE that has 1,2,3 and then D on the floor shifter. I havnt seen any other Bonnevilles with this format ( the ones I see usually have 1,2,D,OD).Also, when I drive it hard the shift points seem to be very high (say.6000+ rpm sometimes). Is this just a normal bonneville transmission and if it is, is there something wrong with it?

Thanks,
John

Pretty sure that 1,2, D,OD were replaced by 1,2,3,D in 96 or 97 model year. On the shift points.........5600-6000 (if driven hard), I believe would be normal with the 4T65 transmission.

True... Most of the Series II's weather it be the 4T60-E or 4T65-E<--- which is whats in the 98... These will usually shift between 5900-6000 rpms...

I think the older series I 3800 will shift at 5500

Thanks for your answer. The only thing that makes me wonder is cause that transmission pattern isnt shown in the 1998 owners manual (the 1,2,D,OD, is shown).

Thanks,
John
