Default 05 Yukon Denali XL replace 1 tire or 4?

I have a tire with a nail that is within 1" of the treadwall. I have been told the tire cant be repaired because of the location of the nail. I have also been told I will need to replace all 4 tires because of the AWD on my vehicle.

Vehicle is a 2005 GMC Yukon XL Denali.

Does this sound reasonable?

Tires are worn 4/32"

Changing only one tire might throw off your alignment a bit, and with the AWD might cause problems.

I doubt that GM seriously set the tolerances that tight though.

you might want to call around to a few local tire shops and ask, unfortunately there are alot of shady places that will try to sell you a whole set all the time ive personally not heard of "within 1 in of tread wall" ive heard not to on the wall itself.

you mean they are 4/32 from new or thats what they have left? i would say you could buy one (if you can get the same brand, model, and size) if you only have 4/32 gone but if you have 4/32 left then buy 4.

Hey, thanks for the reply! I'm new to this online forum stuff. Anyway, the tires are 4/32" from new. They are pretty expensive Michelin tires and I like them.

I'm going to check on getting the bad one repaired first and then if that'* not possible do some more research.

Thanks again for your time

My buddy brian runs the local tire shop and i had a razor blade puncture a tire on my maroon truck right on the edge of tread wall and tread...He patched it from the inside 2 months ago and its held up no isssues so you should be able to get it fixed
