Yes it will give you some poor performance. As well it may be setting a check engine light as your pcm looks for a temp around that number to consider a normal up to temp.

I've never seen a check engine light on your dash except that one time when your car wouldn't start because of your head unit. Perhaps you're all right with this.
I tried to see what would happen with no thermostat on my car, and it happened to be that nothing at all came up. Are some cars just not able to show a CEL for thermostats?

anyway, knowing all the tables available in the PCM, the 160 is not good for a daily driven car, there are so many different things that the ECT can efftct its not even funny
i recommend a 180* or a dirlled 180* at the very least

1337ssei'* car has been running with a 160 for quite a while. I think it'* been about a year. The engine heats up to about 20 degrees of mine, and i run somewhere near the mid 190s with m 180 thermostat.

I must not know anything about anything, because the way I see it, if the engine runs cooler, it is therefore more efficient, since there'* less heat lost. Am I missing something? (I usually am, lol)

A 160 won't hurt MPG much if the PCM knows to stop trying to warm up at 160 and not 180 or 195. I've been happy with mine and the Hypertech tuned for it. I get 27 on the highway.
