Default tirerack.. anyone have experience shopping with them ?

i'm looking for new tires..

i'm just thinking of where i want to buy.. i've had nothing but good experience at discount tire but.. i'd like to try out tirerack.

anyone have experience? how quickly do they ship, is customer service good if there'* problems, etcetera.

edit: looks like i MAY go with them, it'd still be over $85 cheaper if I was to go through them and have them over nighted to my door.. WOW

looks like I know my choice....but i'd end up paying that much for mounting

this makes it a hard choice who i want to go with on this.

They have been in business a long time (20+ years I think) and do a reasonable job at getting what you order to your doorstep in a timely manner.

The few times I've dealt with them, I got what I ordered a few days after I ordered it without any issues. (They were race tires that were not available locally..Goodyear GS-C roadracing rubber)

The only down side, as you have seen, is that you still have to pay mount, balance, and local fees to get them on the rims...which sometimes negates any savings gained in the cost of the tires and taxes.

Good prices, decent shipping times, and tons of useful information. I've purchased from them before, and had everything go without a hitch.

For mounting, see if your local Wal-Mart will mount the size tires you have. They're usually around $50-60 for mounting, lifetime balance, and new valve stems. Or if you have a mechanic friend, see if he'll cut you a break on price as a loyalty thing.

I give them an A+. Had the tires very quickly, and they recommended some good places to go to get them mounted. I mounted them myself at the shop I have hookups with, but the places they recommended were all reputable places.

I bought suspension stuff from them before.

It was cheaper and got here quick.

No issues.

Default all good

I've never used them, but my boss has purchased probably 10 sets of tires from them, and every transaction has been good.
I like Walmart for the lifetime balancing - although you get what you pay for, as the typical walmart "tech" isn't anything to write home about. So, I tend to take the wheels off myself and roll them in, they like that because they are generally lazy and don't have to remove them from the car, and I like that because they keep out of my car. I brought my Chevy truck to them once, and thank God I was watching because they tried to lift it by the body supports, and not the frame. Man, was I pissed.
Plus, I have two complete sets of tires and wheels for my daily driver, I just roll them in and they balance them, they don't care at all - I've thought about bringing in truck tires with my lifetime Oldsmobile receipt, see if they even notice.
When I mount up the chrome t-stars for the bonny project, I will pay to have a real shop do it... I don't want my new wheels all effed up.. Mike

4 sets of tires one of them mounted on new rims.

I have always had excellent service and they have met or beat shipping time.

There may be a "recommended" installer in your area.

I've bought a half dozen or more sets of tires from them, for everything from a Cavalier to a 'vette. Great service and prices, and quick shipping. I was disappointed that they didn't have the Toyo Versados i want for the Bonne though.

i think for convenience i'm going to go with disocunt tire , but what i'm going to do is screenshot the total price of the tires on tirerack'* page, discount tire will honor any competitor prices. my brother saved nearly $100 by doing that.
