Powder coat or spray-on truck bed liner?
For subframe and suspension parts that is. I'm in need of control arm bushings so I was going to take the opportunity to freshen up the underbody. The game plan is to take the spare subframe and control arms I have, get them sandblasted and then finish. Once completed, new control arm bushings, ball joints and motor mounts (a "while I'm down there" change) will be added. I also have a spare set of spindles that I'd also like to finish the same.
The question is, is powder coating durable enough to take the punishment that undercarriages take? Can truck bed liner be a DIY project with a standard air compressor and paint sprayer? I really don't intending on driving the car during the winter as I have my truck for that so road salt will not be an issue.

A powercoated underbody is in some of my fantasies.
If you mean that spray on wax/rubber crap i'm still scraping off, don't do it, you'll thank yourself later

I was thinking more of like a Rhino Liner. Although I don't know a whole lot about it, I don't think it'* waxy and rubbery. What are you scraping off?
There'* also POR-15. This stuff is supposed to be rock hard. I'll have to find out how much the powder coating will cost. Something tells me that it will be way over what I'd like to spend.

Powder coating will cost a small fortune, mostly in labor. Unless you're taliking about a different process, powder coating (as I am thinking of it) is when they spray the magnatized "paint" powder onto the item, and bake it. The actual process might not cost much more than painting, but removing the parts, cleaning them appropraitely, and all would probably begin to add up.
BUT, I would love to get the body of my car powder coated. That finish looks like glas and is practically indestructable....

POR 15.. POR 15!!! Best **** you can buy. $50/ga I think. My dad has the stuff, painted a box, let it dry overnight, and we beat the crap out of it, and it barely even bent. That'* what I like to call strong. You could significantly add some strength to your sub-frame. And powder coating, like MOS said, that will go wherever the metal goes.. not necessarly strengthening it, but it won't chip or crack. That'* just my understanding on it all.

I have Rhino lining on my ram air scoops below my airdam. It chips off quite easily. Since then, I've used the rubber undercoating over them, and it holds up quite nicely. It absorbs the hits without chipping or flaking.

Great tips, guys. Keep 'em coming. I like hearing from people that are already using these products or other similar ones that have not been mentioned yet.
Hmmm... I wonder how much it would be to powder coat your whole car, MOS. You just might have the Steve Austin 6 million dollar car!
