We had our Adopt-A-Highway early this morning in JROTC, and of course I drove the Bonneville. As I was on my way to get in the car this morning to leave, I noticed the smell of coolant. I popped the hood and looked around the motor with an eagle'* eye to see what I could find. What did I notice, but coolant pooling under the intake back behing the alternator, first thought in my mind, "Oh, no, I blew my gasket". At this point I was panicing. I pulled out me cell phone, and tried calling my uncle (lives about a mile from the high school, also GM Goodwrench certified). Whad'you know, my batteries were dead. So I took a chance and drove the car to his house. We got to sniffing around in there, and found that a valve (can't remember what he called it) had broke on the water pump. Totally sheared off right past the threads. So we put a new valve on, and a new hose while we were at it, and filled her up with water. So I'll drain the water prolly Monday and fill er back up with coolant, but boy was I freaking out. The Bonneville is my ONLY mode of transportation.

That was it, and yes the replacement was metal.

we have seen a rash of those on the Tuned Port 3800... Its a common problem... Just as common as the L36 Upper intake

Glad you got it fixed
That intake was actually the first thing that came to my mind, even though I'm L27. My uncle said it was a good thing I went to his house, he said I never would have made it home.

You can tell by white stuff on it that it'* been cracked for a while.

For those that don't know, this is how long it'* supposed to be. The broken part was the threads where it screwed into the motor.

I just noticed it made it into that picture. I've thought about riding over and taking a look at it.

I was feeling sad after reading your thread title because I thought it was your last post and you were leaving us forever. Almost cried.
