That is the thing, the cars feel pretty slow. It is the soft suspension and quietness that makes you think you are going slower than you are. For some reason these cars just really don't feel that fast. We were driving down the road at 120 in the GTP the other day and it felt like 80....its not like a Camaro where you are sitting 3 inches off the ground, the exhaust is loud, and there is tons of road noise. I rode in a '02 SS 6 speed Camaro about a week ago, and that car felt VERY FAST. If I didn't know any better I would swear that it could blow away the GTP...but it was stock so it is 1 second+ slower than it...but due to how the car is setup it feels faster. Our SSEi is pretty close to equal to my STE but my STE feels MUCH faster...its just the ride quality and everything messing up your senses.

you gotta look at the Speedo to get anything accurate. Ride quality and height make a big difference. When I rode in a friends honda that sits low it feels fast, but when I look at the speedo his acceleration is alot slower than mine.

I "tried on" a 04 Bonne at the auto show. Felt a lot smaller inside than my 98. I needs my leg and head room....

The newer 2000+ SSEi models are 150 lbs heavier than the 93 type models. 3700 vs 3550 lbs. Thats only the difference between a full and empty tank of fuel. About .15 sec in the quarter. My bet is the suspensions are very similarly set for luxury ride and handling.
My stiffly sprung Firebird feels a lot faster but it is only marginally quicker and now my SSEi is actually faster on the top end.

As for the car itself, yeah, it'* awesome!! I love the styling too. But, I was comparing to mine, so what can I say. :P
i got the same impression, when i got back in my 95 SE it felt faster than the SSEi, but i kinda sorta knew otherwise. it was kinda funny though when i left the dealer, nailed it, and the speedo shot up to 100, the expression on the salesman'* face was priceless

Well the newer ones don't have that sense of urgency.

Mine'* fine at high speed, but I feel acceleration much more then the new ones.

it was also pretty funny with him looking back and forth between the speedo and the other cars doing the same speed and probally wondering WTF?

Heres a great example...
When I was shopping for my truck to go play off road, and basicly 'mid life crisis' but whatever...
I looked at the 2003 avalanche 1500 -too slow, felt way underpowerd... didnt like it at all
Then I took a 2003 avalanche 2500 for a drive... So much better it was unreal..
The 1500 had 3.73 rear with the 5.3L SB engine and it weighed around 5700lbs...
The 2500 has 3.73 rear with the 8.1L BB engine and it weighs around 6200lbs...

Heres the punchline you've all been waiting so patiently for...
They have EXACTLY the same 1/4mile, and 0-60.

Its all the little factors... like dbtk2 said...
