The FWD Bonneville will not be made again, it'* certain of that. If the G8 is Bonnie sized or between the Bonnie and GP, not too important to me.
I'll be driving a GTO next anyways.

as sad as it sounds, i'm glad. The bonne isn't selling nearly as much as it used to. The gay 300c is stealin some sales.. and some looks. This RWD G8 sounds like quite the contender. Cant wait for this car to come out

GM'* got some awesome hardware in their bin. Benchmark stability control system (GM actually pioneered vehicle stability modeling with some research initiatives in the 1950s). All-aluminum V8, not iron block like new Hemi. Let the Cadillac STS be a luxury sport sedan.
But let this G8 RWD be hard-edged. They must pattern it after the Jaguar XJ8 all-aluminum philosophy. Price the G8 at $50,000. This will be a true flagship and leave plenty of room for the G6, any cross-over, and Grand Prix to grow. Skimp some on the sound deadening. But make it silky smooth.
The XJ8 Jaguar weighs about 3700 lbs. I'd like to see a full-sized RWD all-aluminum 400+hp 6.0L 3500 lb. G8 take on the 425 hp 4300 lb. 300 SRT-8. Talk about killer road dynamics on the G8.
If the G8 is a RWD steel-bodied, heavy boat then I'm afraid it'll be merely on-par with many of its rivals.

It would be a sad thing if the bonneville was cancelled but i can see why it would be with people buying vehicles like the equinox and all of those half mini-van half suv things. In fact that is how we ended up buying our bonne, our neighbor buys a new car every four years or less and decided he wanted to buy a equinox, he loved the bonneville for its power, luxury and overall looks. (his favorite part he said was the HUD and heated seats as well as the Bose system) I would have to agree with him, whenever i drive my bro'* *-10 it weird becuase i really depend on the HUD for the speed, i only look down to check vitals, not speed. and i really dont know what i would do without a really good sounding factory stereo and heated seats ESPECIALLY heated seats in the winter!!!!! I would be happy though if GM-Pontiac redesigned the bonneville (even if they renamed it, the soul of the bonneville would be there! ) and made it RWD with a new 6.0Liter V8 like the new GTOs and Vettes but still retaing the luxury with attitude side of it i would buy one in a heartbeat. my mom is dissapointed that they are going to probably retire the bonne, she absolutley loves the car.shes always tells me how beautiful and mean looking her bonne is! my reply is always, yes mom i know for the 100th time! I know eventually i will have to say bye to the beautiful silver machine in the garage and replace it with another car, hopefully that car with be the next generation bonneville. But Hey that wont be for a few years, so lets enjoy the cars that provide us every day with something that no other car can ever say... Luxury with Attitude. Thats all i have, sorry if i rambled on, thats how much i like this car though. Thank you all for making this forum a great place to discuss everyday things and issues, YOU are what make forums like these great.

imo, if pontiac made a rwd bonneville with a little bit more powerful northstar than they got now, and dropped the price tag a little, it would probably sell better.
