I did read and also noted that in the pictures the axle is in the hub, brakes missing and you wrote "disconnecting control arm" Sorry for asking the question. Kinda interesting using the pb blaster on it. The clip holding the axle in is lubricated in trans fluid. The clips can be a major pain, especially the driverside. I think we pulled Gunner'* trans with the axle still in it.

I used the PB blaster on the hub side, that'* where it was stuck. I got it out of the trans with little effort, then tied it off the the steering arm.

Found the source of the brass. The bushings on the diff are gone.

Did you take a close look at the inside of the diff cover? That'* a common area for aluminum to come from.

I still need to open the oil pump, something is making the pump shaft turn real hard.
