Is this a good deal? 2 questions.
CarMax has a 2003 SLE that only has 18K miles on it for 16000. Vin# 1G2HY52KX34164154, It appears to be at a low price to all others currently available in my area with a lot less miles.
How good of a deal is this?
I emailed them about the price, I wanted to see how much they could sell it for. Their 70 miles away from me one way. I said I was interested in this car but I don't want to make the trip and not buy the car. They said there price is the price and it'* not negotiable
I have never bought a car from CarMax. Is this BS?
Thanks for your help.

CarMax you say? They buy cars from people, whether those people buy one of their cars or not. And they only pay trade-in value. So at $16K I'm guessing they're making a good profit. I'd ask for a lower price IMO, though they said it'* non-negotiable.
I'm not sure if CarMax'* policy is to not negotiate prices. I know some places that do not, but their prices are LOW (I bought a car from a place that does not negotiate, but I got it for $3000+ below retail). $16K is pretty much TOP dollar for that SLE. You could probably find an SSEi of that year with the same miles for the close to the same price.
However, 18,000 miles is really low. If you're not really interested in an SSEi it could be a great buy.
(I still think they're asking too much )

My brother used to work at CarMax.
CarMax is the one place that does not negotiate used car prices. If they're asking more than you want to pay, look elsewhere.
HOWEVER...every few weeks it doesn't sell, they drop the price. Keep an eye on it.

Wow... The car is 4 years old and they want 16000.... Thats a little much...
A friend bought a 1 year old grand am SE, Loaded with the 3400, Keyless and even a deck wing... Car had 30k on it.. She got it for 9000 simply because we shopped around...
So keep looking...

You compare a Grand Am to a Bonneville?
That price is a bit high. I paid that price out the door (including sales tax) for my 2003 SLE with 40K miles, and they also threw in two new tires. That was in August. Some thought that was a high price, but for our area it was right on ($2K less than what they were asking)
