Okay, anyone else? what about some rims to put them on? is there a steel rim or something cheap that would work? what about some zero drags from centerline?

You do not want slicks unless you have an LSD (limited slip dif). One wheel burnouts will grenade your dif into the rest of the tranny and you will be investing in a new one. In fact the three main shortcomings of our cars are

1) weak differential
2) weak input shaft (snaps on the 1-2 shift)
3) heavy torque convertor throwing a ton of rotating mass on the shifts stressing the tranny.

BTW, if your looking for rims to mount them on, most GP'* use rims from a Pontiac Montana, don't know of a lot of bonnies running slicks currently.

You can also use GP 16in wheels. I've been keeping an eye for some slightly used slicks for sale locally. Pretty much any slicks a grand prix'* can run can fit on a bonneville.

Thanks, for the info on the slicks! i was not planning on running them until i uprgraded my drive train. Just looking for info so i can keep a look out like TaylorD is.

So, do you think the input shaft needs to be changed along with the LSD? i was already considering the upgraded torque. Not that i have the money for this now :( , but i am gettin my long term plan together.

The input shaft can go anytime, even on stock powered cars. The most stress on the shaft is the 1-2 at WOT. Slicks are not going to cause it to snap as your are not usually tire slipping at the 1-2 WOT anyway. Slicks will more then likely cause you to do a 1 wheel burnout without an LSD which can grenade your dif into the rest of the tranny taking it with it.

Scares me everytime I read a post like this.

Intense bulletproof trani with limited slip, torque converter and bullet proof input shafts is $4000. US plus shipping and installation.......would cost me $9,000 Cnd installed.

2 Main things you can do to help the tranny last is the LSD and lightweight TC. Scott said that if they had done this last year they wouldnt have gone though 9 trannies (maybe 1 or 2). That why they are my next 2 mods. The TC will help save the input shaft and the LSD will of course help by not grenading into the tranny.
