For those who don't have maintenance manuals yet, this may interest you.

I STRONGLY urge anyone lacking a manual to purchase Chilton's #28200, which covers 1986-99 Bonneville/88/LeSabre. This manual only costs 10 or 15 bucks US, and is available at most auto parts stores.

Jr's3800 and I both use it, and it answers a high percentage of questions on this site. JSeabert also used this for his top-end rebuild and head gasket replacement.

Of the non-GM books, this is the best I've seen. Better than Clymer and Haynes, as well, but sometimes it's good to have one of them in addition. The factory service manuals are expensive, and over most of our heads.

If you have to buy one manual, this is it. Next to the 180° thermostat, this is the wisest investment you can make.

Don't mind at all. The book has all the pictures, though. And a picture's worth a thousand words.

The important point is that this book can be a great confidence boost. Josh next door to me had never even changed his oil. Without my help, he replaced his head gaskets with my book. I was out of town. He's confident he could do anything with that book now.

Everyone should have one, but we'll still answer questions :wink: If you get to be too much of a pest, I have bug spray.

I prefer All Data's CD Manual as to being the BEST reource I own! 8) I've got the Chilton's & Hayne's too. These two lack considerable information when it comes to certain ares of our cars. All Data's CD has all the TSB's & Schematics you would ever need too. :wink:

I usually buy the mfg's book for my vehicles, but i also have the microfisch for the Bonne. The part numbers are nice and I love pictures!!

Probably both. I bought mine at a sporting goods store....big chain in the NW. They have auto parts also. Just find an auto parts store that has Chilton's (most) and if they don't have that one on the shelf, they'll order it for you!

That was weird. I got double posted. Anyway, cool thanks. I'm sure those'll help me walk through just about anything! Although, I have a 2000. Is there any brand of manual (or CD) that includes 2000's? I notice the Chilton's only goes up to the 1999 model year.

DeathRat, I was on All Data's site and it seems that I need to be a part of a shop or dealership to order a copy of their CD-ROM. I imagine these aren't available at all to the public? I see that there's a $25 per year subscription for simple car owners like me, but I fear that it wouldn't be as helpful as the CD-ROM you mentioned.

If you have any info about it, just let me know:

1) If the CD is available to the general public.

2) If the yearly subscription is a good deal.

I imagine just finding a good Haynes or a Chiltons manual would be good enough for a start. Thanks.
