Default It lives!!!

For those that have been following my adventure here, I have finally got it back together.

I got the engine and transmission back together and installed into the car. Anyone know what these engines sound like with no exhaust? Sounds pretty good! Anyway, Had some minor issues, but were all corrected prior to first start up. Engine started up fine with no CEL and heard no noise from the transmission. Whoohoo! Only thing left to do is install the passenger side axle and strut assembly and the hood. This has been an educational experience for me. Can't wait to get it out onto the street and see if this trans still works.
Only thing I did to the trans was replace the differential from a 3.06 to a 2.84. Today its raining, but I am still going out and doing some work on it!

Well, it is completley done now. What a gruesome 3 days to get this done. Took it for a spin around the block a couple times. Came back ok. Need to take it out on the highway now, but had to come in and get dinner and change clothes before I do that. I noticed a difference between the 2.84 and the 3.06. I might run to the junkyard and pick me up a 3.06 one of these days. Or I might splurge and get some LSD Can't believe that thing sucked down 2 gallons of tranny fluid. Where does it put it all?

Its filthy now too. Grease prints from last night when it was raining. Gotta take it to the carwash and hose it off and make it pretty again.

Just got back from the highway run, noticed that it shifts a little sooner than normal, but doesn't bother me much. At 65PMH, it runs at 2000RPM. I think about 200-300 RPM less than with the 3.06. Well, hope this helps the fuel tank on the highways anyway. Also noticed that it has a little more pep since I changed the sparkplugs from Bosch Platinums to AC Delco'*.

This morning I dropped my son off at school and then ran to the gas station and then to the doctors office. Still, no problems so far. After I got back, I jimmied the hose on the can of R-134 so I could hook my mity-vac up to the A/C line so I could evac the system. Worked pretty good. Didn't have enough A/C to recharge the whole system, but the compressor kicked on and started to blow some cool air. Enough for the system to stay wet I guess.
