Steering Column

Has anybody had this happen? My son has been driving my 1990 Olds 98 (same as a Park Ave). I got in to move the car the other day and the steering column is slopping around like a wet noodle. It isn't the adjustment part, that still works. ( I know it's not a Bonneville but figured it mounted the same way). Just thought I would ask before I tear into it.

Bob, remove the driver's side hushpanel, and tighten the 'cradle' for the column. Should be one bolt on each side. Mine vibrated loose last year, and needs to be tightened again. I'm using loctite this time. Better that than stripping it.
