Starting to hate bonnevilles!!!!
 

This is rediculous, I just had my car at the shop and spent $728 on a lower intake gasket and crap, and now my tranny is messing up and has to get fixed, airbag lights came up for some reason. All I've been doing is spending money in this damn car!! I think I spent well over 4000 just in shit thats been messed up. WTF is going on!!

You could have done the gaskets yourself for under 100.

i paid around 40-50$ CDN for the gaskets and the sealant.

i heard the guys at GAownersclub.com have all been quoted over 1,000$ USD for LIM gasket jobs on the V6 3.4 :lol: (i own a 2.2L ;) )

EDIT: my Bonnie has just a bit over 100,000 miles, and since i got her, ive invested 2,000 - 2,500 in repairs... so ur not that bad.

Yea I had a new overdrive put in and some other crap that my guy told me, and I got pissed at him so I brought it to a Pontiac dealership and there saying something is up with the tranny. So I called my guy and told him its coming tonight, and he's fixing for free cause its rediculous

That's probably not the way to stay friends with your guy.

Maybe stepping back away from the car for a few minutes may help.

Yea I know but no he knows that I have a attitude prob so he breezes it off all the time, I just called him up and we were fine, I'm just aggravted that I'm spending all this money and it still doesn't get fixed

That's why I'm trying so hard to learn how to do this stuff myself. It's going to take me forever though, especially since no one I can know can help me. BC is my only source, haha

Here are some things for you to consider.

Most likely, the problems with your car reflect the way it has been maintained, repaired, and operated, more than how poorly it was designed or built. And the problems related to poor design can be overcome at minimum cost by education and the friendly assistance of the Bonneville Club.

Unless you personally knew the previous owners, you seldom know what kind of abuse the previous owner(s) heaped on the car before you got it.
Hard acceleration is really hard on transmissions and differentials, no matter who builds 'em.
Engines should not be run hot.
Engines should not be run low on oil.
Transmissions will quickly fail when the engine gets hot and prevents proper cooling.
Fluids and filters need to be replaced on schedule.
Engines should not be revved until oil pressure is up.
Some repairs must be made quickly to prevent greater problems.
Repairs made by incompetent mechanics can cause other expensive problems.

You might have been unlucky enough to buy a car that was not properly maintained, operated and repaired, and now you are paying the price.

If you don't learn how to perform your own maintenance and repairs, you will pay a large price when things do go wrong. Good mechanics don't come cheap. It takes years of learning and continuing education to maintain proficiency at car repair.

The most important thing you can do is to pick a good car to start with, then care for it properly. We are here to help you do as much as you care to take on yourself. You can learn much and almost certainly save some money by reading the Techinfo articles and searching the forums for repair questions.

You may be having a bad experience with your Bonneville, but that particular automobile comes with the incredible resource of the Bonneville Club. Thank the stars you are not trying to repair your 10 year old Mercedes. Post a question on any of their forums and see how long you wait for a reply, if you get one.
