Etorx are a good tool for our motors. It'* amazing how many they put on these cars. Makes doing a #9 pulley swap in the bay much easier etc.

On the bracket, I'd say it'* a toss up.. nice to have..not really necessary though. There'* no clearance issues or problems down the line from it.

I'm so close.

Today I stopped and picked up a 160* thermostat. Figure I'm not driving it in winter anymore, so why not.


And the starter, wow, now there'* something that I really wish I had put in before dropping the motor back in. It fought me for a long time. The plastic shield wouldn't allow me to get a socket on the bolt. But I did finally get it.


Then the power steering pump. It fought me yesterday and i finally gave up. Today, it went right on.


After some time trying to plug in the oil pressure sender, then looking at the other wire harness. Dang, it'* different. Again, I really wish I had saw that when the engine was on the stand.


Then the bracket between the diff and the engine. Hey, guess what'* right in line with the bolt. Yep, the oil pressure sender I just put in. What a pain. A shallow socket, with a swivel, and a real long extension and I just got it.


Then I slid the rear header in to place. Funny how the back one is easy to get in, but the front one is a pain.


Then I put the cross over pipe in. Clamping the rear will be a pain. The trans dip stick is in the way. But if I remove it, then the cross over pipe is in the way of bolting the dip stick in. I'll tackle that tomorrow.


That'* all I got today. The wife keeps adding things for me to do. So I have to stop.

I really think I can finish tomorrow, I hope. I need to connect the cross over pipe, connect the O2 sensor, connect the PCM, hook up the coolant lines for the intercooler and fill that. Put the over flow tank and windshield washer fluid tank in. Then hook up the battery. Drain the oil and fill. Crank it over a bit to build up oil pressure. Put the spark plugs in, connect the spark plug wires, and start. All of those should be fairly easy, other then the cross over pipe. So as long as nothing pops up, it should rumble to life.

I'm on the edge of my seat waiting for it to fire!

I'm itching to. Was just out there waiting on a lady that was picking up a old flat bed scanner. So while I was waiting I hooked up the intercooler lines. Can't top it off until I turn on the pump. I then put the plug wires on the coils. It'* the stupid little things that add up.

On the starter.. "what plastic shield" That thing should have been gone long ago. All it does it help keep dirt off the flywheel, which is moving fast enough to keep itself clean. Held on by a couple 10mm bolts, I doubt it slowed you down much.

If you check the writeup'* I've done on engine removal, you'll see I always pull the ps pump and hang it from the strut tower, then pull the oil pressure sender and diff bracket, and once all that'* gone...it'* backwards bolt time. Found that to be the best way long ago. Had a couple people ask about how I get past the diff bracket. I smirked at those folks..they used a wobble socket with success, but it couldn't have been easy.

Looks great, can't wait to hear it fire up.

The backwards bolt was easy. Use a box end wrench with a angled end, flip it upside down and ta da. Just need the cross over pipe out of the way.

You keep saying that..yet on anything but TOGs it'* not easy from the driverside. It'* easiest the long extension way from the passenger side. The stock manifold, SLP'*, Speed Daddies etc etc all are in the way of getting to it. Togs though are down so far by the trans dipstick that they are so far out of the way, they are nearly under the car.

Ya, great headers, except for the back clamp on the cross over pipe. Snowing like crazy here now. Now I need to clear snow. Sure hope I get it fired up today.

ehhhh I dunno about "great". To me the donut connections that are known for burning up and leaking seem like they'd be an interferance in the flow through the pipe.
Having done a ton of installs and then having removed/reinstalled mine a bunch of times, the slip fit brands are my preference. The couple times I installed TOGs, needed a helper to get that rear flange together.

Can we convince you into skipping the snow and firing up the car? Mother nature isn't being cooperative today.
