I was curious do all SSEi's come with the Performace Shift option/button in them?

the Perf shift let the car shifter a little higher in the power band....the Perf shift should be called normal and the normal shift economy, because in Normal shift mode the car shifts too low the above statements refer to when the car is at WOT only....the shift buttons have no effect on normal driving |
Yup. Performance shift actually shifts at the same RPM as a non-supercharged Bonneville of the same year. Call it transmission saving. ;)
Normal can be considered 'economy'. Most L67's can achieve GREAT fuel mileage in this mode with alot of freeway miles. |
However, i noticed before my trans build, in normal mode, the trans shifted really sloppy, it wasnt desirable in my books, but i had slippage issues to begin with. Mine is always in perform mode now.

Interesting, the "Normal" and "Power" modes in the '85 Cressida had a noticable effect on daily driving. Later shifts no matter the throttle input, firmer shifts, as well as sooner kickdowns with less throttle input needed.
Of course, this was detrimental to fuel economy  We left it in "Normal" most of the time. Yet to experience Bonneville performance shift, however... |
it makes all the difference at WOT in a L67.
Its a good thing we have a nice flat tourque curve, most would loose soo much power by 5000 it wouldnt be funny |
It is my opinion that the normal shift button does lower shift points and shifts less aggresively. BUT... the L67 is programmed to shift quite a bit more aggresivly than an L27 or L36, as found in perform shift, and normal "retards" it back to NA levels. That is why the button installed in a L27 or L36 makes it shift lower in normal than it used to.
I have driven my 92 SSESC, my brother's 92 highly optioned SE and my wife's 93 bare bones SE (now my parts car), and they all shift nearly identically to mine in Normal. And it seems to affect all throttle ranges, not just WOT. Believe me, I've gone back and forth between cars just to compare shifting behavior. |
I dont have a performance shift button in my SSEi, 2000+ dont have it i imagine. :?

Perf shift isnt too much different. Havind had a GTP myself[same engine and tranny], it had perf shift, and I didnt notice much of a difference, HOWEVER with a PCM and the appropriate shift points adjusted, it would be a noticible difference on an SSEi of the 00+ yrs.
