Default ssei and gas

i took my ssei out today for my first ride (20 miles all around) and it used about a quarter of a tank my gauge says but the gauge was jumping around all over kinda. is a sensor thing off or do they really chug gas? i wasnt dicking aorund either....

premium here is $2 a gallon and this sucks.

It'll chew the gas, have you had a good full tune up, that will help you mileage.

GM gas gages are wonky to begin with

without gettin all mechanial.. yet.. just a reminder that the last half of the gas tank is the way smaller then the top half.. and even though you did 20 miles.. were you hard on the pedal and or lots of stop and go and or lots of hills and turns? What temp were the car at? Could be like Jim says.. requires a tune up.. but possible O2 sensor.. and bunch of other things.. any symptoms during your drive??

Yep. In the buick I had, it said that the first half of the tank went REALLY fast, and then the last half lasted a long time. My bonneville is exactly the reverse, but that'* due to a different gas tank shape I THINK, and keep in mind I have an older model. Just keep an eye on it, and tell us what you come up with once it'* down to the last 1/4 tank. Might be a good idea to check your gas mileage the next time you fill up

Properly tuned, you SHOULD get 25mpg minimum. With the right mods, almost 30 is attainable.

The gage stays past the F line for 90-100 miles and proceeds to drop like a stone :?

no problems driving. the exhaust is a little loud, thats the only prob with the car.

i drive 30 miles today in all and the needle went past 3 bars. i only went 85 once to show my firend how fast it is. so i wasnt dicking aorund. anyone else with an SSEi have this problem of poor mileage?

what should i have tuned up to get peak mileage and all? thanks for the help guys.
