Default Grease for joints

I have a question, when greasing the joints do you need one specific for auto use or will any old grease do? Ive got an old cartridge sitting around that says for general purpose. Thanks.

That grease will work. But I prefer to use a heavy duty chassis grease. Its that real sticky gooey stuff
