I was about 45 mins north of my house just N of Cincinnati and me and my friends were having smoke off contests in a really big abandoned parking lot. we swaped out old wheels/tires on our front ends (us = me and a VW Golf manual) and were trying to see who could burn out the longest. The parking lot was uphill and moist from a rain and I smoked 'em all by making my longest continual burnout 197' with NO use of brakes. i LOVE torque It took forever to figure out how to keep it going, but i finally got it by turning the wheel back and forth almost like front wheel drive drifting My friend and "his" girlfriend (that was in my car, lol thats a WHOLE other story ) Were drop jawed at the sheer power of my car. his words exactly were "Dude, your car ROCKS!" I was like thanks and me and her went off to get ice cream

P.*. All of you thinking "This isnt possible" remember that the parking lot was uphill and wet, and we all had bald tires. So yes it WAS cheating, but it was a hell of a rush. And i get more points with a girl in the process. Chalk one up for bench seats...

How do you even burnout for a few feet? I've never tried so that'* why I sound ignorant and clueless. I've seen a video clip of a 92 Bonne spinning his tires for like 15 seconds in the same spot. I never knew how to do it. Is it even possible to do that with tires only a year old with all the tread I have?

Lol, you find alot of WET pavement that goes uphill (thats optional, but helpful) thats the only way i can get my 6mo old tire to squeal, or while im full lock on steering one way or the other. Then put it in first (also optional) and steadaly push the gas to the floor, not too fast (to get all the torque you can) but not to slow (cause momentum is a burn-out'* worst enemy)

PS. Another way by cheating and hurting your car more is using the parking brake or mild regular braking pressure, but that tears up your car and brake pads...

I heard the TV show Dukes of Hazzard used to have small oil squirters, that could squirt onto the tires.

This allowed them to do easy, awesome looking burnouts (lots of spin, lots of smoke).
And it also allowed them to "dift/slide" around corners to make it look cool.

I don't know... oil being squirted from your car, sounds more like something the Batmobile should do. hehe

I figured the parking brake was a part of it. I never tried tho because I know it'* not the best for the car. But at least the tires can get hot and stick to the pavement better in a following race.

You set the parking brake, turn off your traction control and nail the gas. Without brakes you turn off the traction control and nail the gas from a stop.

On a flat & dry country road on an 80 degree day we came to a complete stop in the GTP and nailed the gas from the stop without using the parking brake and did a 35+ foot burnout. We sat still without moving for about 10 seconds. Stock Tires + 450lb.ft of torque = Lots of smoke.

But anyways, it sounds like you had some fun with your friends, and impressed a girl, so your day must've been pretty good.

A good (or not good) way of doing it is to
-Wet pavment(option)
-long strech
-parkbrake(option)
-old donut sized spares(not an option- grind what tread there is off)- SAME SIZE tires!!
-spread the tires in a soapy/oily mess--(if you do it right you also undercoat your car!!)
-first/second gear on autos.
-on manual.. put it into revers go back 1km/h then Put her into low/first AND GET READY for some smoke
-and you wont be able to stop for a long distance if you get any speed-
-so be carful! (Not an option!)

also--bleech makes Fire in a burnout-- so dont try that

My car can squak on wet for as long as I want.... the tires need to be changed but for now. whenever its wet....those tires are spinning.

I usually give it up after a few seconds, cuz I'd like to evantually go somewhere

Yep, a little bleach can be fun if you don't mind losing your tires and have a fire extinguisher handy.

dbtk, I've got a 30' stripe in front of the house I layed for Jseabert and his brothers (and parents) a couple months back. Dry pavement, new tires, no brake. I think it was a bit easier for me than your GP because of the added weight. Your car tends to WANT to launch a bit quicker.

I don't wanna do that again until the tire budget looks a bit more promising!
