One of the things I absolutely do is take pics of the cam/balance dots lining up and then the cam/crank dots lining up. That way you can never second guess if the timing is correct when something else acts funny.

At least you caught it beforehand.

Unlike someone else that likes to connect accumulator lines wrong.

Ya, no kidding. I was rushing to get the timing chain on because that'* where I was going to stop. Good thing I didn't put the cover on.

Fixed that for ya Dan. You probably did put it all together properly. Second guessing is why I snap the pics. It'* easy reassurance that you were firing on all cylinders when you are about to turn the key.

Speaking of... Disconnect the ICM connector and crank the engine 5-10 seconds before trying to start it. That will build up oil pressure and refill the timing cover/oil pump again.

I figure I'll toss this stuff out from time to time while you are working. That way if your brain gets freezer burn..you'll still be covered.

I had totally forgotten that the cam keyway usually has to be moved over.

What do you mean starts to get freezer burn, I'm way past that.

Ya, I put the new cam in and I'm like, where'* the key?

yeah...remember how we were talking about each of us having bolts and misc parts. I have a few extra keys. ... ok, I probably have one or two of every part that could trip us up when working on the engine and something takes flight.

I went overboard on the transmission stuff, that'* labeled with size of bolt, pitch etc and which items it commonly is used for in a trans. ...although seeing pics of your garage, I bet you did the same.
