Default 2 Questions

Hey I'm new, I don't have a bonneville of my own and look to change that as soon as possible. I was wondering about how the sse and ssei model have all thos little screens in the dashboard and I can never find a very good picture of either one of them. I was wondering what the screen to the left is for and if anyone could link me to a good picture of it. Also, is it possible to make the radio controls work with an aftermarket receiver? Oh and if the heads up display actually comes in handy, here is my situation, I want a 96-99 bonny with all those cool gizmos but I don't want a supercharger because of gas prices and I'm about to go to college in a year. SSEs are kind of hard to find these days so that puts me in a pickle. So thanks in advance for any info.

as Ryan said the Compass is on the Left and the Driver Info Center is on the RIght

yes you can make the Radio controls work with a Aftermarket Reciever....your HU just has to have a remote

You could get a SLE Model that has Everything that the SSE model has Except the HUD and the Dash.........the 96-97 SLE'* look like an SE and 98+ SLE models look like the SSE/SSEi models....just something to think about

the heads up display does come in handy, lets you know how fast you're going, if you're low on gas and even when you're blinkers are on, all without looking at the dashboard. probably even saer that way, but it sure is neat too. willwren has a good pic of the HUD, with a very large number as the speed.... i find the compass comes in handy, especially in new england where they like to not label the direction some routes are going in, so that way you don't have to guesswork it when turning on to some of them.

if by 'radio controls" you mean steering wheel controls, you would need to get a special adapter that lets you use them with an aftermarket headunit... there is a write up about it somewhere on here.

The compass is good if you've never been where you are before. It'* kinda cool, but pretty slow to change direction, and on the backroads of the midwest it becomes useless at times because it has to "calibrate" all the time. The vehicle info is pretty cool, but the low fuel ding gets annoying because the gauge is right next to it, I know when it'* low. And just to point out, the supercharged doesn't get that bad of fuel economy. I get between 18-22 mpg depending on how often I see cops. I can't imagine it'* more than 20-26 for the non supercharged engine. Just drive a supercharged bonnie before you decide if the milage is worth it.

yeah, but that on top of premium fuel... Trust me there'* nothing I want more than 40 extra horses but Ill be switching over from a 130 horsepower Plymout breeze that gets 32mpg when I don't speed so even 200 horsepower is alot more than I'm used to. But idk when it'* time to start really looking I'll try to find an ssei just to try it out.

The DIC is also a lamp monitor. It'll tell you if any exterior bulb is out.
