Oh yeah, I fix everything on all my cars, and families cars too, no need for a shop. (unless its an engine or trans rebuild, thats out of my league.) This Alt. Has been going from 14V to 12V and back and forth for a while. This morning when I fired her up the voltage was around 10 or so, not quite down to the 8. I guess I'll have to chalk this one up as Alt #1 to go on me. Hopefully I dont have too many more to chalk up.

well, your not the first! Make sure and get another altrenator with a garentee. I've gone through 2 since september but the 2nd one was free because the 1st one was under their garentee! :)

lifetime warrenty for about 130 new stock oem replacement

bmsgaffer86 12-31-2003 02:05 PM

get the next size up replacement for the alternator... 130 amp i think(stock is 105 i think) ? either that or 160 (obtainable in ACDelco with lifetime warrenty) It is a beast so will require some very minor mods, but works wonders when done (get the boot that goes over the wire on the alternator side or be prepared for some serious stretching)

bah... wow exactly the same post exactly one hour after the first on... i need a gold star or two to help me out with these... ;) thanx fellas

The front bearing on most alternators is too small. Soon as it goes it takes out the windings. Seldom is it the regulator.

Gaffer? What up with the double post 1 hour apart?

OK new alt. is in and works good. I bought a 100 dollar duralast from autozone. Looks good. Nice and clean :D

PontiacDad 12-31-2003 03:35 PM
