i don't have the Autolite iridium plugs.
but i have over 75,000 miles on my NGK Iridium plugs(TR55-ix)
i would not go back to the standard plug ever again.

All I know about spark plugs is if it ain't broke, don't fix it. Those platinum plugs make your car run like crap, and I bet those iridium plugs are the same. Those plugs are made for MUCH new cars that were designed for those plugs, ie European cars, Japanese cars, etc.

who'* talking about platinum plugs, Iridium is not platinum. you would lose that bet
also my gas mileage went up and has stayed up for 75,000 miles

An Iridium plug is a good durable plug meant to last. Copper based plugs are also good, but don't have the lifespan of an Iridium. Copper needs to be changed many times before an Iridium. It was my experience

you take 3 or 4 barely be noticable power gains
and you can get 1 noticable power gain.
take a look at my sig, my car is not heavily modified and i
do mid 14'* at 96 mph, with good tires low 14'* easy.
i get 29 to 33 mpg @ 80 mph(flat road not in the mountains)
depending how often i get into the boost.
all this and 135,000 miles on the car which i bought new in 2000.

Actually Pete, different opinions and more information is why the club exists. Everyones opinion and experience are welcomed.
In this particular case... comparing Platinum to Iridiium is the same as comparing the L36 and L67 engines and expecting them to be identical. Same goes for comparing a copper based plug to either of the others. The materials used make big differences.
