So, Pontiac did call these wheels "honeycomb" and "snowflake"? The argument was over what Pontiac called these wheels. It didn't seem like Pontiac would name the wheel that went on the Trans Am "snowflake". DANTHURS remembers they were called "cross-lace". That seems more like it.

I was hoping somebody still had a window sticker from a Trans Am that came with these wheels.

Well, now that we have all this "opinion", the correct answer is......
Pontiac didn't "name" their wheels.

Since I can't explain it well enough, go to this site. http://www.78ta.com/wheelspec.php This explains all the rims on 2nd gen. Firebirds.

I do know the snow flake rims came out in 1977 were cast aluminum and the option was on the Trans Am for $121. The 15x7 wheels were surrounded by GR70x15 radial tires.

Info taken from "Firebird Trans Am" by David Newhardt, which is a great book to own.

Nice link and trip back in wheel time. But those are "media/user accepted names. Not from Pontiac Motor Division. Unless my GXP'* wheels name is 18" optional..........

I guess we could go by the RPO codes. That means the 15x8 gold "snowflake" rims would be YJ3.

LOL, kinda takes the luster out of it though huh. Thats was just my first thought when I seen the thread. The Literature, Sales Promotion placards in the showroom, nor my vehicles option window sheet never referred to my wheels as anything other than "Optional 18 inch" maybe it included "alloy" I have my window sheet in the trunk.

The last RPO code should be YJ8, not YJ3.

Some more RPO codes

N89 Turbo Aluminum Rims
N98 Rally II Rims
N90 Wheels Turbo-Cast Aluminum
N67 Body Color Rally II Rims
P05 Honeycomb Rims
YJ8 Snowflake Rims
16P Argent Aluminum Wheel
55P Gold Aluminum Wheel
