I've noticed in the last week that whenever I get up to 8o kms/hr my car starts to shudder and vibrate, any idea what this might be

Thanks

Tires are out of balance. Do you have any snow or ice accumulated on the inside of the rim?

Cheers,

Ill def go check that out

Other possible problems, warped rotor, threw a tire weight, wheel bearing going bad.

dont forget bent rim...and does your hood vibrate? cause thats what seems to shake mine a little. can you feel the vibration in the steering wheel itself or more of a whole car virbrating thing.

ratmfan2118 Feb 16, 2004 06:22 PM

mostly steering wheel, but somewhat throughout the car too

Rogue Feb 16, 2004 06:35 PM

First thing i would do is rotate the tires. If the steering wheel shake goes away, its probaly and unblanced tire (out of round, or thrown weight). If its still there, could be the bearing or a warped rotor. Does it get worse when you brake?

ratmfan2118 Feb 16, 2004 06:37 PM

no its fine when I brake it seems as soon as I drop below 80 its fine, they are brand new tires (like three weeks old)

Rogue Feb 16, 2004 08:44 PM

if its only present above 80ish then i would bet on a balance problem.

thanks for the help
