Can you remove the balance shaft out of the 3.8? Does it need to be there, I heard someone say that it isnt needed then I heard others say the engine will be way off balance? Thanks

I've been told the engine will vibrate more. I've never built one with out, so can't say for sure.

You can remove it, really the only thing you will notice is a vibration at idle but even then it will be small. You would have to drill and tap the oil passages to block them off or install a cam or freeze plug in there either way it will work.

Been there, done that. It causes a lot more vibration, especially with a W body with urethane mounts. I'd only do it if you need the room for a double roller chain.

You can disable it by simply removing the gear and leaving it in place. Otherwise you need to plug the oil holes like Steve said.
