Default BonnevilleFest 2004 -- The first of many threads (NO 56K)

Ok here are a few highlights from Bonneville Fest 2004. The turnout was quite nice and those who had to leave near the weekend were replaced by other who could make it for the weekend. It was a blast and we all had a great time!

Ok, this is the Meet and Greet day in the Rock Cut State Park on Wednesday:

Another park pic...the heat and humidity was awful:

Seth in the side mirror was we drove through the park:

Ryan and SOLID closing the gap:

Ryan giving a little race ready smirk:

A nice shot of Seth'* car outside of Chedder'* that night, but what the heck is with that face?! "Uhhh, and why are you taking a picture of me?"

That night when Rogue and Fuddyduddy arrived (Todd and Todd):

Rogue falls asleep as Ryan appears to be explaining something about friction...lol:

Getting ready to leave for Volo museum the next morning:

Seth crapped his pants when he saw how big this Caddy was:

The machines ready to roll out of Volo that afternoon:

The night has only just begun:

Checking out Fuddy'* original window sticker after washing the cars:

This fitting umbrella came with Fuddy'* car when he bought it years back:

At the picnic Fuddyduddy decided to start killing off fellow Bonneville Club members:

"No no, I didn't kill anyone...it was Fuddy!"

Todd 'Emeral' cooking up a storm:

Kendra (Todd'* wife) picked the wrong time and place to release her bowels:

Mini-Rogue (Ethyn) conditions himself by throwing a few...also notice the Neon invasion in the background:

You gotta start exercising somewhere:

"Break it down yo!"

Break it UP dawg!"

Ethyn invents a new dance style:

Now Kendra started scaring people off with her squating:

Jason finally makes it Friday night, along with Taylor (out of picture):

After the races on Saturday:

I skipped a lot and didn't have a chance to take many pictures, so I'm leaving that up to Todd, Jason, and Seth to fill in once they get home tonight. Everything ran smoothly and I we all found the strong points in this meet as well as what could be improved for next year. Overall is kicked butt!

Wednesday the first to arrive met up at the Rock Cut State Park for a chit-chat, then we went out to eat at Chedder'* that evening. Later on at night Rogue and Fuddyduddy arrived so we hung out in the parking lot for awhile.

Thursday morning we left for the Volo Auto Museum in Volo, Illinois and checked out some very cool rides. From muscle cars to the Batmobile...it was all there. On the way back to Rockford we went through a series of rain showers and at one point it looked as if a tornado was going to hit. Once back in Rockford we went to Don Pablo'* for some good mexican food. We called up a few people while eating to make them feel bad for not showing up. Afterward a lot of us hung out in my hotel room and drank a lot of "adult" beverages.

Friday we left for the picnic at the Rock Cut park but first washed our cars at the carwash. Once at the park we found a nice quiet pavilion but noticed we didn't have aluminum foil, plates, or napkins. I completely forgot in the rush of things so me and Todd jumped in my car to go pick up what we needed from Target. Well as we left we noticed Dodge Neon'* were coming in from all over, then once near Target I got a call from Seth saying they reserved the pavilion we were at...we must have not noticed the sign. We were gonna move to another location, but everyone was hungry so we fired up a different grill away from the pavilion and co-existed with the bumble bees. The picnic was great and the fresh air was wonderful. After eating we drove to the next pavilion and took some nice shots of our cars from newest to oldest (others will post those pics). That night we ate at Red Lobster and had a grand ol' time shootin' the chit.

Saturday morning we rushed to Byron Dragway and had kickin' weather! 75 was the high and clouds covered the sky. Not knowing my car'* power I ran a 16.5 the first run doing a burn out almost the ENTIRE length of the track. We got that little slip-up on camera. As time went on we all started getting faster and faster by learning our cars and the track. Todd as able to do something amazing, but I'll let him tell you all about that. Taylor won the bracket racing, which lasted till 4pm I believe. I'll post the drag racing details in another thread. Anyway, that night we ate at the Thunder Bay Grill and stuffed ourselves to the gills. That night we all gathered in my hotel room and watched videos and pictures on Todd'* projector.

Sunday I woke up to Jason getting up to take a shower...I think. Then I feel back asleep. Shortly after Kendra and Tina said goodbye with Ethyn still in a daze. Later Seth and Jason knocked on my door to wake me up telling me they were leaving. Finally I got back to bed...but then 97bonnevillextreme called for a last minute chat. Once that was all over I couldn't sleep so I started packing.

Overall it was awesome and it will be even better next year! So let'* start planning now...

If its here again next year lets go to Great America. Or then again, Navy Pier or the Sears Tower. I wish I was there. I had so many ideas.

You left out the part where I wasted you on that first run

It was great, tons of work went into it, and i know what that'* like kyle, good job!

I got back just under an hour ago. Made it in under 6 hours back. I got pix, but only a few from the track, as Kendra didn't feel like using my camera after it didn't work once. It was a great couple days for me, I wished I could've been there earlier, but I stayed an extra night to be with all these people I don't see much. Good times!

Next year? we were thinking a more central location, maybe iowa or Missouri.

Looks like everyone had a blast. Missouri sounds like a good location for the next one. I would really like to be able to make the next meet!

B-fest turned out to be a blast. There was lots of good times and silliness.
It didnt end for me until Jason and I parted ways on I-35.
