Well, the site is down and has been down since yesterday. I am getting a new server because my old hosting company started putting adds on the site and stopped supporting some phpBB scripts. The webserver should be up tomorrow. Sorry it took me so long to finally make this post. This should be the last time i have to shut the site down for a few days.

No........all was backed up before the server change. All will be the same as before!!

i'm on top of it this time...2nd times the charm. i hope this is the last time i have to change it. i just coudnt stand to keep getting those error messages whenever a post was made, a pm sent, or when i tried to send a mass email. should be back up by later today.

If you're changing servers, will the address be different?

nope, you change the DNS of the address so when you point your browser to sebonnevilleclub.uni.cc, it goes to the server info you have entered.

example:
dns of old server: dns1.freelinuxhost.com, and dns2.freelinuhost.com
dns of new server: dns1.free2w.net, and dns2.free2w.net.

the name stays the same. hope this helps.

i figured out the error, the webhost gave me the wrong DNS settings. It will be up soon!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! yeah!!!!!!!!!!!!! :D 8) :D 8) :D 8) :D 8)

A Major Setback Has Occured -The webhost i just signed up with, supported php but not mysql, and you need both to run a phpBB board. this will put the date of the site coming back up about monday at the latest. I am sorry to have to make this notice. I have spent the last 3 hours searching the web for a free webhost with everything i need for the site. all the time before that was figuring out why the host i had didnt work. now for the record, i have gone through 4 host that were pos...now, i should have found a good one (i hope).

i know darn it. i messed up, so i researched for 3 hours! is that enough time? well, it may be quicker than monday. hopefully by saturday, since i changed the DNS alrady to the new company, and a am 100% sure it is right. hoping tomorrow afternoon/late evening. but, then it may take me till saturday to get all the pages, the forum, and the database correct. oh well, we will see with time.

Just double check everyting and make sure it all work.

that will take 24-26 hours...dns has to update.

when its back up its back up.....there is no rush, get it done the right way this time and be done with it

I believe that he is using a free server...which now that I think about it SEBC is gonna be littered with ads anyways? Right?

i will only get a host with no ads...unless yall want to start donating and get a paid host. that is just a though. i would get a paid host, but i couldnt afford it and i dont have a credit card.

Did the last host have ads???? Because I never seen any......I also have the pop up blocker that comes with either Netscape browser or AOL IM.....I'm not sure though......But I never once seen an ad on the last server.

yes, they started putting ads on 3 days before i put the site down. they use that no ad promise to suck me in, and then they put them on...i'm not gonna be with a lying host.

the site is going up on the old server for possibly a month...there will be no pop up ads, just a text ad at the tip top, which is not really noticably. I am putting it back up on the old one because it might take a month for me to get approved for the new host. the new host is the one, but they are back-logged at the moment. Just so you dont worry, the error messages wont appear, i have them took care of for now. the board will be restored to right before i shut it down a few days ago. i decided to stick with the old one and deal with the wait since yall said take my time. it will get better soon. I am sorry this delay in changes has to happen, but it is for the best.

I have the website back up and running and the phpBB database is up to date. There is no need to reregister. The post counts are the same as before too.

Well to be quite honest here if you plan to start this up as a real club, get real hosting. Jeff started this club and to this day pays for it out of his own pocket. I started OBC and payed for it all out of my own pocket. So until the day you start paying for hosting, expect it to go up, then down, up then down.

sse1990-you have a good point, so dont get me wrong here, but i am 14, about to turn 15. I dont have a job, and i have no time for one. The best option is free hosting. You never know, the SEBC could become dormat after a while( hopefully not!!!!!!!!!!!), and the little money i had would go down the drain. It is also a small site still, so it isnt worth the paid hosting yet.
