Default need help finding a non mag mount, no drill cb whip

hey guys. since i got the new car, i figured id update the whip. any ideas on where i can find one? i dont want a mag mount or a drill whip. i learned my lesson with the mag mount. leaving it on for an extended period without moving leave a nice ring on the trunk. the old PA has about 5 rings now.

i was thinking maybe a clamp on whip with rubber under the mount, say on the trunk lid? my only issue is if they even make a mount like that, will i have clearance for the antenna wire.

no cell phone style whips for me. lowest ill go is 34"

any help is much appreciated!!!!

Any of the ham or communications shops will be able to help you.
Got any of these shops close by, you could drop into?
They make all kinds of mounts probably including fender /something that u can mount on the trunk lip..etc...
he he I knew u were going to want to move that Cb over to the new PA!

This use to be my favorite store years ago.

This mounts to the lip of a trunk lid.
MFJ MFJ-345T | TRUNK LIP/HATCHBACK 3/8-24 MOUNT

That mount will still do something to your paint. Now, google 3/8 102" stainless steel whip. Now you can go bashing the metal signs in the drivethrough.

dang mike, an 8 1/2 foot whip on my almost 4 foot high trunk. id be scraping a few underpasses with that bad boy!

not looking for that much height. right now im running a 34" whip. looking to maybe go to a 56" or so.

i like that mount, thanks for the link!

a girl at work drives her husbands 02 k2500 alot. he has a mount that apparently is mounted to one of the fender bolts, and comes out above the fender at a 90*, and the mast is mounted to that. dont even touch the visible paint. i dont really want a fender mount, but i wonder if i could find something similar for the trunk.

part of me wants to buy some stainless and bend it into a U shape and mount it to the backside of the trunk lid on the frame. it would need to be about 4" plus under the lid though, so im not sure it wouldnt eventually bend and break with the wind and bumps.

lol.

today i realized over the winter, the aluminium whip has seized itself to its aluminum mount. this is a problem. the wire is attached to the mount and runs straight to the cb. under all the carpet and whatnot. which means, in order to remove it to wash the car, i need to take apart the interior and fish thru the 20 feet of line. there goes any thoughts of using this whip on the new car! lol.

no option of dropping the whip and mount thru behind the open trunk either. not enough clearance. grrrr.

here is a picture from last june to illustrate my problem.

i bought my full size big truck wilson when i had my neon. i took the wiper cowl off mounted a aluminum l bracket under the level it sits at so when the cowl was back on (had to make a little notch). all you could see was the antenna sticking up about where a car antenna would be. got a few comments from big trucks but i had it to hear at as much range as i could discussions about where the traps were, and receive range is all about quality of ant/wire/connections/and quality of your receiver

well, ive got a cobra 29 lx limited edition. so the reciever is good. its just the whip situation.... as for the cowl mount, it would be cool, but my wipers auto hide under the hood. so thats a no go.

im off on thursday, and assuming the roads are passable im gonna go to the cb shop near the highway and see what they have.
