Almost lost an arm due to the factory jack snapping today... pretty pissed

Looks like the car moved while you had the jack under it. Were the other wheels blocked and the E-brake set?

e brake was on along with two blocks behind the wheels :? ...you could see it slowly bend a little and then SNAP, (explitive deleted for viewer enjoyment), CRASH

that doesnt look like a Bonneville Jack.....I know my 93'* Jack Is MUCH beefier that that

yep they are.. i have broke or bent just about every GM jack thats comes with the cars... i now own a cheap'o 20 wallmart hydro floor jack...

Never rely on a jack to hold the car. Its job is to lift the car, it doesn't hold it. I always recommend jack stands. I usually use two of them.

Jack stands would have saved your jack, and helped to keep the car from moving.

So you had the e-brake set, and chocks behind the rear wheels? Where did you have the jack at, and in which direction?

yup. My 89'* jack rolled right over one day in my garage. happened while it was going up. CRASH. I won't use a factory jack anymore.

Those jacks were made for emergency use only (changing a tire, rescuing an pet/child, etc). Not for regular use. Glad you're OK, but anyone who considers them things a real jack is sadly mistaken
