No word on subframe clearance yet? Or the ability to remove the pan in your frame without pulling the motor?

Clearance was already checked long ago. (like I told your old butt on the phone)

Held up for a test fit it on Tony'* car when it was up in the air, it'* going to fit fine... Never had a problem getting a pan out while in a 92-99 .. afterall..we don't have oil cooler lines on an series 2

So, I got a 98 that probably needs a new pan. You would recommend the aluminum from a 2000+ and not a pan from the 98? For what reason?

Interesting.... I am going to be dropping a 2001 L67 engine into my 99 this Tuesday hopefully. I had forgotten about the pan.
So, if I read correctly, the 2000+ oil filter bracket will work OK too in a 96-99?

Skippy.. would I recommend it? No.. if you don't need to spend the money, don't. I was sick and tired of having an oil leak that when pulling the motor apart seems to have been the rear engine cover bolts (only accessible when motor or trans are out).

I do like the way the 00+ pan has the windage tray built into the pan and not the gasket. The gasket is a much better design as well and appears to be one that will hopefully give many years of great service at a better cost than the S2 96-99 pan gasket.

Marty..
There is no reason why the filter adapter for a 00+ bonne won't fit, I don't recall where the GP filter sits...as long as it doesn't try and face forward of the water pump you should be fine. Tthe transmission connects to all these motors in the same ways.

Seems to me that there shouldn't be an issue changing it. I'll know very soon.

And the crank won't fall out.
(I'm getting some good mileage out of this one...)
