rim prep?

what should i do to protect my crome rims from the salt for this winter? i plan on buying some winter rims next year but thats not gonna help much now. ive been told valsoline and rub on some wax and rub it off at spring time. the wax will probly be a pain to get off and i dont feel confrontable putting valsoline on my rims. what do u guys do?

I would say get a chorme polish. there is a product called Flitz, that is a ploisher and protector. IT is said to protect chrome for up to 6 months. Another thing that i have done for my moms blazer that has that Alum Blade wheels is to throw a coat of waz on them

I've done the vasoline trick before.....Works great, but it doesn't have to be vasoline, just some sort of grease type material will work....It more or less forms a barrier between the the rim and the elements of mother nature.

Remember salt as a chemical agent against metal is ineffective unless its wet, so if you can find a barrier between the rims and the salt that repels water...yer good to go.

That's interesting. I have never even heard of this Vasoline trick. You learn a new thing everyday.

The rims will look like shit after you do it and when winters done especially, but when you clean them off....YEAH BABY!
