traction control and racing
ok ive heard both but which is better when racing...traction control on or off?? i set up a poll too jus for kicks hehe

I'd have to say traction on since it will minimize tire spin. But I've also heard it gives a slower launch. Unless you are really good at launching without the TCS, leave it on.

I've heard both too, but I figured that traction control obviously would minimize tire spin, so that should in turn provide a better launch. I always have traction on, especially when I race. I never stomp the gas but ease into the very start and then floor it. Never lost a race that way.

If you do end up spinning the tires it cuts off fuel and engages the breaks. You definately don't want that. They tell you how it works in the Manual. So just learn how to launch with it off and you'll be set. I know where my tires will spin so i bring it up right before that.
You don't want to stomp it either cause you really stress the engine. I ususally bring up the RPM a little before i launch to minimize the stress on the drive shaft and stuff. Its easier on the whole front end.

Its fun to purposely chirp the tires, cuz no one ever expects it from a full sized sedan. I have to laugh when I squak and get the looks from other drivers when they finally catch up at another intersection. Geez, I'd be dangerous with a SC'd car
But in a race situation, the 'ville gets all of its power in 2nd...and you still have high end torque to play with. I just worry that my tranny cannot handle all that torque that the 3800 generates.

Yeah, you're right Jim, I usually pull away pretty fast once I'm in 2nd. That'* the best part. I remember when I killed that Integra 3 times in a row. He came back for more even though I pulled away so fast. At the last red light both ppl in the car looked over
I do hope that my tranny lasts for a while more. I'd hate to have it go when I don't have the dough to fix it. But it doesn't seem to be giving as of now. I think I'm good. I do baby it more than I used to.
