rebuild or crate motor

what your option?

if you say crate lead me in the right direction to find one.

3.8l non SC unless a 3.8L SC will go right in with no problem

I am anxious to hear the answers to your question. I have thought the same thing. I am no expert but unless you can do a lot of the rebuild work yourself I would think that having to get all the work done on a rebuild would get expensive fast. The crate of coarse hits you all at once but a lot of back yard mechanics have the ability to swap out engines. That's my 2 cents.

the rebuild isnt horrible if you have the resources to do it,
if youve never had problems with your engine id consider it if youre not worried about more power.
the SC swap or another L36 arent difficult either, although youll have to run a boost gauge for the SC and id recommend having the PCM tuned.
if youre paying to have it done and want the cheapest id say get a used NA 3.8 and pay for it to be swapped in
