J, drop that thermostat to a 185° also, if you haven't already done it. If you're gonna add a cooler, you really need to do that, too. No half-assers around here!

Let us know the second you get that thing back. We're all waiting to see you on the road again. It's been tough for all of us :explode:

I will probably do that too, but in a little while. Fall is definitely here in Ohio, so I don't forsee much hot weather the rest of the year.

I do have all new replacement bulbs (xenon-plasma) waiting at home for the hi/lo and the fog lights.

Actually, I have two full sets of the OEM 9005/9006 bulbs now. If anyone is interested in a couple let me know.

You make a good point about the weather. We don't get that cold over here. I did have an 89 Olds Quad4 that I had to cover more than half the radiator in the winter. Couldn't get any heat out of the vents otherwise. Made a cover and used it winters for 3 years. Polycarbonate with 3" holes drilled in it. Hung by brackets over the RAD. That way, you don't have to change the stat back and forth.

That reminds me...after I put a tranny cooler in my last car, during the winter it took along time for the tranny to get up to temp enough for the torque converter to lock out. It wasn't bad if it was city driving, but if I got on the highway right away I would cringe the whole time the tach was reading 5-600 rpms more than it really needed to. That cost me another two-three MPG during winter months. Maybe I should get some stiff sheet plastic to cover it during the colder months.

You're on to it. It worked great for me. I had a 5-speed in that car, but I can understand where it could be a problem with an auto. Gives me something to watch for. Anyone else here with a tranny cooler and a 185° stat seen any tranny shift anomolies? Particularly the guys (and gals) in Canada or the US NE?

There shoudn't be any problems. If you cover up the cooler, you are not causing any more heat than was there before the cooler was installed. Just remember to take it off before the July 4th cruise!

B&M Makes a tranny cooler with a thermostat built in. :D

Why not save yourself the huge Pain In The Ass, and just get a STS ?? :D

Cause post 1972 Caddies suck. :D

How can you say a thing like that! During the 70's brought Caddies with 500 Cubic Inch Engines.... All I need to do now is jack it from my friends 76 El Dorado, (which he might give to me for free) and turbo it.. MM... 800 lb/ft on pump gas.... muhahah.

Lookin Sweeet Jay!! A couple questions however.. First, YOU DROVE IT DOWN THE ROAD LIKE THAT??? lol. That woulda been sooo funny if somone was just driving along and saw this.... thing.... looking something like a bonneville go wizzing by the other direction with no front clip, hood, etc.   Man I do gotta admit though, it looks like that body shop really knows what the hell they were doing. That thing is really taking shape and looking sharp. Once they get the paint on I bet you wont even be able to tell at all. Nice choice on the Xenon's too!! I've got PIAA's and I love em!

Good idea with the tranny cooler! Now is the time! I haven't had any problems with my car not shifting correctly or the torque converter locking up in the witner with my big ass RV cooler up there, so you should be ok.

As far as you guys and this cadillac thing goes... I think the recent cadillacs are awesome! Maybe its just personal preference, but especially the STS. I've always loved those cars since they re-did them in '98. I feel kinda funny sometimes because here I am 22 years old and I LOVE the Cadillac STS. Shouldnt I be looking into something with a little more youth appeal ? lol  Even the Deville.. Bad ass car. In fact, a Bonneville G/XP or a STS are about the only 2 domestic cars I would consider buying after I get rid of my bonny, otherwise its german all the way.

Just my $.02 :D

Keep us posted Jay!!
