Powerslot brakes and pads...

Are they worth the $20 extra each rotor to get the cryo-treated Powerslot slotted rotors?

BillBoost37 07-09-2007 03:04 PM

Not in my opinion.

J Wikoff 07-09-2007 03:12 PM

And what pads are good ceramics? I've got Midas ceramic pads now, and they've got plenty of meat, but my rotors are warped... so new pads come to.

No complaints about the Raybestos quiet-stops here. I'll probably be replacing them this time next year. I think I'm on year 3 now?

J Wikoff 07-09-2007 04:25 PM

Where'd you get them? Do they come in packs of 2 or 4?

BillBoost37 07-09-2007 04:26 PM

I like the Bendix Ceramics.. CT's I think.

Seems that once you spend the money for good brakes..it's all irrelevant as to exactly which brand...they are premium with a premium tag and that's the basics.

Not to mention they will give you a set when you wear them out for free...

yup: CT's :D

Those things get nice and sticky when they get hot

J Wikoff 07-10-2007 02:07 PM

CT?

If you were asking Wren.....he only buys things that come in 6 packs.

CT is Ceramic Technology I think.... Bendix.. free replacement pads.. check it out.

If they last as long as the original pads on my truck..they'll never need to replace them. Those babies got changed out at 105,000 miles and still had 1/3 of the pad on them.

J Wikoff 07-10-2007 02:41 PM

Do I need to order 1 box or 2 boxes of brake pads to do two front wheels?

BillBoost37 07-10-2007 02:53 PM

1 box

Logan 07-10-2007 09:46 PM

Yeah, they are CT-3's. Don't know what the 3 stands for though.

wjcollier07 07-10-2007 09:50 PM

i think its like formula 3 or something....who knows...but they're excellent, also, i recommend their TitaniuMetallic pads, little cheaper, excellent wear, excellent performance, perfect across the board.

Bendix. 100%

Yes, I have heard great things about them as well. I am pretty sure it comes down to ceramic or not. So do you mind dirtier wheels, for less cost? And keep in mind the difference in braking feel between the two compounds.

J Wikoff 07-11-2007 11:11 AM

Ceramic only. I hate brake dust.

J Wikoff 07-22-2007 11:49 PM

Well, the rotors and QuietStop pads were put on yesterday. Got the Raybestos because that's what the wife found first from the list of possibilities (this was all my anniversary present). I am super impressed so far. Maybe it's because I was living with warped rotors for so long, but good brake feel makes a car feel so much higher quality when you have it.

BillBoost37 07-23-2007 07:34 AM

John...if you want to improve that say by ~25% flush your brake fluid. I was quite impressed by the firmness in the pedal etc when the flush was complete.

agrazela 07-23-2007 12:00 PM

Seconded (or thirded? Fourthed?) on the brakes.

Last Friday evening on the '98 LeSabre I installed Bendix rotors and Raybestos Quiet Stop pads (using liberal amounts of Permatex brake quiet and caliper lube), plus a Motive Products Power Bleeder flush (thanks to Ken, a.k.a. sp4149), and I am in absolute braking Nirvana.

The stock rotor shakes are gone, stopping power is fantastic, no squeal...I love it. The standard semi-metallic pads would blacken the wheels something awful within a day, so after only two days I can already tell that dusting will be reduced with the ceramics.
