Default Black94SSEi'* LIM gaskets and porting (new pics)

Tony.. aka Black94SSEi and I went yarding today. Afterwards the plan was come back here and change his lower intake gaskets.

I was rolling around the house doing stuff while he worked on it most of the time. He found that the end gaskets on the lower intake were not there. Only RTV was put down.

It'* back together and running. While he was in there we went and looked at Wren'* post about porting. <~~ Tony

At first no difference. But then as I drove home, I noticed a bit in the higher MPH range where I would be cruising at 75 and jump to 90-95 quite quickly. Seems like its a bit smoother too when accelerating.

I will have to do some more driving around the neighborhood to see how the pulls are and if I notice a difference there.

Boost: I cant thank you enough man. I really appreciate the hospitality and all of the help you gave me.

Thanks for opening up your home to Me and the Bonne and helping me with some of the cost of the weekend. I really had a great time and Learned ALLOT!! Maybe someday I'll learn how to handle a shop light

It'll come to you as the PCM re-learns the fuel maps. The top end is noticable, and this porting is one of the reasons I've got such a hard pull at the bottom of 3rd gear now.

It may do better with the MAF screen re-installed, so it can get an accurate read of the incoming (increased) air.

Im think I'm going to re-install the MAF screen this week. (I'm glad I saved it )

Well done, guys. That'* alot of fun and some good work in a short period of time. Getting all the gaskets done on the top end AND getting the LIM ported in a day is well worth it.

let'* not forget

Last week Bill W had o-ring problems on a coolant tube. This week i got screwed over by an o-ring leaking on a coolant tube.

I lucked out...total disassembly not required as the coolant tubes unbolt on a series 1.

Also had a thought about that stupid stud in the supercharger and accessory bracket. Why not replace it with an E Torx stud, as i have the E Torx sockets and it seems easier.

Edit.. or uh..how bout a normal stinking bolt?

Heres some pics of the wok we did:

The night before, I got all of the gaskets needed to do the job. I ended up getting a pr of Valve cover gaskets from my bro, but they are not for my year, so check the for sale section, they are going there shortly.

I was on the road at around 7am on Saturday morning heading to meet Bill at the JY

Saw a Ford Mustang on the back of this truck heading to the track. I would have gotten a better pic, but its hard trying to take good pics while driving.

For those who dontknow, this bus company Sucks ***, and Always break down but hey their prices are cheap. $10 bucks each way to NY and Back FUNG WAHHHHHHHH

Ok fast forward. After driving and driving and two JY'* later im at Bills place looking things over. I managed to pick up a tensioner pulley and headlight switch for my car.

This is a shot of the engine before anything got torn into

Here, you can see the SC missing

Nother angle

There it is

Next up to be removed? The intake. Notice the lack of the rubber gaskets on the side. There werent any no wonder why I was leaking :?

Heres a close up of the area where oil was leaking

Bill putting on the other gasket......were getting there

Ahhh that should plug it up!!

Nother Angle

While that sat, Bill was porting my intake with his Dremmel <-------ME

What a fine job Mr. Bill did. He got good use out of his new Micrometer too!!

Other side

Well, just about done so its time to clean the parts up and start reassembly

There we go. Good as new!! we called it a night as far as car work was concerned

Bill started a fire and broke out the beers

Oooooooooooh

Ahhhhhhhhhhh

Next morning was time to start it up and check things over.

After running it for a while we shut it off and was ready to now change the oil. (allot of coolant leaked into the engine while removing the intake)

I go under the car to losen the oil pan bolt and I noticed Coolant leaking on the passengers side Oh oh!! I get out and tell Bill, I panic, since I thought we would have to rip back into the upper end. Bill takes over and pulls the metal coolant tubing and finds this :(

Need some light?

The O-ring was missing a piece so it was time to replace it. After a few tries we finally get the right one and Bill takes care of the install. THANKS BILL!!!

We had some Taco Bell, washed the Bonnes and I was on my way home

At this point, I was soooooo tempted to do a WOT run, but the tranny wouldnt have liked it I dont think so I took a pic instead

It was an awesome weekend and I actually learned something!!

Till next time...........
