Back 2 the tranny shop we go
If i wasnt at the tranny shop every month for this thing id be a much happier person, anyways i had my oil changed and the guy told me that it looked like it was leaking from the tranny case, after i took it through the car wash i got out to put my light covers on and i saw the red fluid dripping (the water washed it off). i then brought it to the shop that rebuilt it and hes gonna take a look at it, but he needs it for 2 days to fix if its leaking from the case. Im also noticing that its shifting into 4th way to soon at about 60-70 kms, i dont think this is normal, is it? the rpms are about 1500 and there is no power i have to give quit a bit of throttle before it down shifts, it really sux on the highway until i get to about 120-130. The tranny guy said he might have to adjust it (what ever that means) i didnt know one could just adjust something in a tranny? does anyone know what he would "adjust" he said he wouldnt know until he looked at it, so does that mean theres many adjustments that could be made in there?

hmmmmm
i dont know about the adjustment but i do know i am EXTREMELY wary of trans shops. i had a trans rebuilt in a 92 diamante( yeah yeah yeah i know.....it was car i had before the bonnie) $1800 . i sold it to a friend of my wifes 2 yrs later. the tranny was acting up a bit so her boyfriend took it to a tranny shop his uncle works at and he said it had a trans from a junkyard in it !! said it had junkyard righting on it ! well i cant say its true for a fact because i didnt ever really check it out , but it would not surprise me !

The main thing is whether it'* the correct trans for the car. Junkyards are going to be less than scientific about matching models exactly; I once had a '78 Grand Prix into which the previous owner had swapped a transmission from a subcompact Sunbird. Physically it was the same transmission, but its internals were different, and it burned out in a couple of years of trying to push a heavier car around. (The local transmission place pointed out factory ID stampings that decoded to a Sunbird instead of a Grand Prix.)
They swapped in a rebuilt GP transmission (same price as what they had originally quoted to rebuild the one we came in with) and everything was fine after that.
