Poll: Which is better='93 or '94 Bonnie?

Which is better, a '93 Bonnie or a '94 Bonnie? I'm talking about two SEs, maybe SSEs, same trim package anyway, just that one-year difference. What are the pros and cons of each? I remember hearing about different computers and one has a resonator and one doesn't; is that it? Which computer is better for reliability, and better in general? Probably wouldn't be swapping the chip out, so that kinda negates one of the advantages I heard that the earlier computer has over the later one. Any other things you guys would like to add? :)

Go for the 93. Simpler OBD1 NON-hybrid PCM, which still has the 'flash feature' to extract codes.

ECC also has On-board diagnostics and does NOT require a dealer to extract codes.

94/95 can't claim either of these benefits. The 93 was also the last year for the digital EGR. It can be easily fixed/repaired ON the vehicle when needed, and I haven't seen one need full replacement to this day. These were only used from 91-93.

i dont know. some of what bill said is what i like and the 94 ssei has more hp in the SSEi's. Get both of them.

nutter...

:stupid: <--- wow, was supposed to be right under Bill's post, but was too slow...

The code extraction trick on the '93 has made things alot easier for me.

I vote for the 93.

1993 is like a fine wine.... a good year definatly.

For ease of problem solving and repair, go for the 93. For more power right out of the box, go for the 94.

Each has its ups and downs. Depends on what your future plans are...um, and what are they?

Hold on folks. He said SE or SSE. Not SSEi. 92-94 NA were all L27's, rated the same. There's no power difference on those cars from 93-94.

No brainer. 93.

Some neat options ended after 93, like a higher flow exhaust on the SE's. The 93's will have a slightly louder noted on all models then 94's, because a resonator was added in 94, Those will be significantly louder then 94's with aftermarket mufflers. Some 93 owners have added a resonator because it can be a bit much at times.

There are chips available for 94 cars, but again, you're still going to have a world of hurt just getting codes out.
