plastic engine cover...
 

hey guys, when i changed my LIM gaskets and put the engine top half back together, i lost the "spacer" on top for the plastic engine cover(the one that keeps it off of the fuel rail some). im just thinking of leaving the darn thing off anyhow. what could it hurt? its just cosmetic, right? it may actually keep the engine cooler some, too, im thinking. any opinions?

Leave the engine cover off. It holds in heat.

I still have mine, but I keep it in a plastic bag on the shelf in the garage. The main thing I don't like about it is that its not designed to be securely attached to the engine. Now on the L67's, they actually have a wing nut that secures it to the supercharger; that's more like it. ;)

i have a series 1 but i have seen series 2 without the cover, as someone alse said ,it does hold in the heat, as well as the splash guard that goes to the bottom area of the radiator to the front of the bumper cover. LET IT OUT ! :D :twisted:

If you have harshly cold winters, like Canada and Alaska, I'd say keep it for the winter months, as the engine cover will help the engine to get to operating temperatures, and stay there, which is good for gas mileage.

Another thing it helps with is to keep the engine from cooling too fast when you shut it off. But, again, this is mainly for the northern states and Canada.
