Default Had Windshield Replaced....

Ok, so on April 1st (as I'm dealing w/ my bad SC issue), I take a big rock in the windshield from a red Sunfire

Needless to say I had to have the windsheild replaced.
$740 Cdn + tax = $851 Cdn Total

But I was out looking at her today and I noticed a few things...

One, my wiper on the passanger side isn't parking right. I tried to go out and push it down but it doesn't go below the cowl. My drivers goes down fine. Any ideas?

Second, it looks like the windshield is missing trim or something at the bottom of it. The egde of the glass is exposed... is that normal? It also looks like some pieces are MIA.
Passanger wiper blade rubber stopper for one. Anyone got a PN for that?

I'll snap some photos later. If anyone could snap some photos of their cowl as well to help me compare that would be great. Thanks.

You can adjust the wiper arm blades. Not very easy to explain on a message board. Do you have a service manual? At the end of each wiper arm is a little 'arm' you have to pull out to release the arm from the wiper motor gear. Once you take it off completely, you can then realign it on the wiper motor gear.

As far as the trim piece goes, my windshield is bare at the bottom too. I think that is normal on these cars.

Ok thanx CFoote... I was searching and found another post about the wiper blades.

acg_ssei had this to say...
If I recall right, you lift the arm up off the windshield with one hand, and hold it up while pulling the locking tab out. When the tab is out as far as it will go, you'll find you can release the wiper arm and it won't go back down. At this point some gentle wiggling or pulling on the arm in various directions will eventually work it off its splined shaft.

Having said all that, I think the shaft is indexed so that the wiper arm only goes on in one position; you don't get to reattach it one notch further to the right, or something like that. If the wipers are not parking properly, the problem is in either the motor or the linkage, not in the position of the wiper arm on its shaft.
I'm going to print it out and try it later.... I'll also snap some pix of the cowl to show you were I think I'm missing some parts. I know for sure I'm missing the rubber stopper from the passanger side. If the junkyards weren't still snowed in I could probably grab one there.

Aside from all that, any chance you can get back to the installer and ask him if he removed anything that he forgot to put back on? I kind of doubt the rubber stopper would have fallen off by itself, nor would anyone bother to steal it, so...

You might also try wandering through any nearby parking lot for another Bonneville to compare with. It'll take you all of three seconds to just peek under the edge of the hood and see how someone else'* windshield installation compares with yours.

Ok I phoned the shop and of course no one has seen it, or remembers it.
The shop is owned by my good friend Shawns parents, and both of them are really nice so I'm betting it was an honest mistake.
BTW.. it isn't the right side that'* missing... it'* the drivers side...

I tried to fix my wiper today with no success.... :(
I couldn't find this "locking tab" that you speak of.... the only thing I could see to do was removed the two bolts/screws at the base of it... and I really didn't want to mess w/ that w/o getting some advice first.

Here'* a photo of my right side wiper...

Any ideas? Where is that "locking tab"?

Next... I'm not 100% but it looks like something is wrong or missing.....
Here'* a pic of the drivers side...

And the same piece on the right side... (note the rubber stopper is there)....

I'm probably just being anal... but I'd thought I'd better check.

PS-Sorry about the gawd awful dirty car... but it'* nothing but salt & slush on the roads up here... your car is only clean until you drive it.

The clip which you use to remove the wiper (again, follow the directions you posted above because they are better than mine ) is right here:

The fact that your car is dirty might be helpful, in a way: If the area where the missing bumper was supposed to be installed is clean, it obviously would have been removed recently, such as when the windshield was replaced (and they presumably had to remove the other one, too).

Anyhow, you should be able to snag another one from a junkyard; they're not rare.
