Performance Mods and Emmissions Testing

Here in the Chicago area we have emmissions testing. I'm planning on SLP headers with the SLP cat, stage1 cam, 3.2 (maybe 3.0 if I get a P&P'd SC), and the proper Intense PCM burn to go with.

Has anyone running the SLP's/cat passed emmissions testing?

On another note...if I ever go crazy enough to go intercooled I'd have to remove the EGR. Any ideas if that'll pass emissions?

ok "emmissions testing"

Do they stick something up you tail pipe there? or do they just go by what the PCM tells them?

Cuz in NY they just do "emmissions testing" buy seeing what the Computer tells them

I'm almost positive it's measured at the tailpipe, but I think they check the PCM as well for emissions codes.

That raises another question...would they be able to tell if you have an emissions DTC deleted or would it just look "healthy" to them? Because I'm pretty sure you get the rear O2 deleted with the SLP cat.

IMO, your cam is the thing most likely to make you fail a tailpipe sniff emissions test, due to increased overlap passing unburned HC's.

hehe

youre in luck, in Illinois we have emissions testing every couple years for cars.

cars 96 and newer just get an obd2 scan, no sniffer in the tailpipe, so no codes = pass.

cars 95 and older got the sniffer but as of this year all obd1 and older cars are exempt from emissions testing :D

WOOHOO!!!

Bob... PDXGTP just passed emissions. Same testing company and methods for your state. If he can pass..you'll fly.
