Default Car Wheel Locks (New question)

Do any of you have wheel locks on your tires? How much do you think will it cost to have some installed? After getting my radio ripped off, I'm worried about waking up and finding my car on bricks (this happened to my neighbor last summer...it was stock wheels at that)

You only need one lock for each wheel. You can get them for $5+ at an auto store. Don't lose the key. They are a real pita to get off without the key.

But I guess that'* the idea.

Don't buy wheel locks from regular auto stores due to the fact they only make so many and some criminals actually take the time to buy a few sets just for the keys. Buy the locks from a dealership, it'll be safer that way.

Same goes with the club, always buy the club not those imitation one'* like click it. Click it only makes like 5 keys. I knew two people that bought their click it'* from different ends of the city and had the same key.

Fwiw - you can get about $30 for an aluminum rim at the recyclers here. That makes for a quick score.

None of the yards have factory rims around here :(

theifs are not going to waste their time trying to collect all the different keys and trying them all... especially when you can buy one of these for under 15 bucks

My GXP came with a set of GM locks installed. I've got the 18 inch wheels and I think they are desirable enough to get stolen. Any run of the mill criminal wants the path of least resistance. Once they get to the lock, they'll run. They don't want to waste the time when there are so many opportunities out there.

There'* a way, And I'm not posting it, to remove wheel locks in seconds. Put them on to stop the idiots. Just remember that anyone with the right information can still get them.

ok, back from Pepboys, I bought a pack of McGard wheel locks and they are installed. Although wheel locks are not guaranteed to stop a crook, it can really slow down the theft process and hopefully the alarm will set off if they jerk the wheel too much

now take the order form and order a extra key. Now.
my original key broke in pieces when I used it again.
the key they send you is better made.
